Project: Town Garden 2025
From Consultation to Completion – A Tranquil Garden Transformation in Exeter, Devon
This recent garden design project in Exeter, Devon, began with a friendly and detailed consultation to explore how best to enhance an already beautifully landscaped outdoor space. The garden featured a newly built gazebo, providing privacy and a peaceful sitting area — the perfect foundation for a calm, secluded retreat. Our aim was to build on this by introducing thoughtful planting, soft textures, and year-round colour to bring the space to life.
Working to an agreed budget of £2,500 for plants and materials, we developed a bespoke planting plan focused on “the right plant for the right place.” Every plant was carefully chosen to thrive in its setting, creating a scheme that balances structure, colour, and seasonal interest. A harmonious palette of blue, silver, white, and soft pinks was selected to evoke calm and elegance, while ornamental grasses were added to soften the lines of the garage wall and create gentle movement.
To transform the plain wall into a feature, we recommended introducing a piece of outdoor wall art, adding interest and personality. Climbing plants were also incorporated to soften the fencing and provide vertical greenery, creating a lush and cohesive feel throughout the garden.
Finishing touches included a raised herb garden, a tranquil water feature, subtle garden lighting, and an efficient leaky hose system for easy maintenance.
The completed garden design is now a private and uplifting retreat — both beautiful and practical. It perfectly demonstrates how a thoughtful consultation and creative planting plan can transform an outdoor space into a year-round sanctuary, showcasing the best of professional garden design in Exeter, Devon.
